In Bluffdale, Utah two suspects fled a crime scene where they stole two gun safes that contained a collection of firearms after breaking into a home. The suspects broke into the home Saturday morning around 4 or 5 a.m. They forced their way into the garage doors by prying it open and walked their way into the Ransom family’s home. Not only did the suspects steal two gun safes, but also a few televisions.
The suspects did get away with one safe that contained ten guns and tried to steal another safe on the roof that weighed over 500 pounds. However, during their pursuit, the safe fell off and landed on the street. Fortunately the suspects weren’t able to obtain the second safe that contained even more firearms.
“You can see a lot of the damage from where it skidded down the road, they probably had a hard time lifting this safe onto the car, it weighs 1000 pounds,” said Scott Ransom. “They did get it on top of the car, the neighbor saw them from that window and they took off and that safe fell in the middle of the street.” Ransom also believes that the safe that was stolen could be broken into. He also mentions that the suspects stole ammunition during their theft, in addition to hunting rifles that they need to find and arrest these suspects asap. “Anybody who can just walk into a home and help themselves to things is clearly not in the right state of mind and to have those types of weapons, clearly they’re in the wrong hands,” Ransom said.
The police believe the suspects have dark skin that could possibly be Hispanic and that they are driving a sporty-looking green or teal Acura, Honda or Nissan with partial California license plates starting with 5V. It most likely has damage on the roof as well from attempting to steal the second safe.
This is another unfortunate mishap for the Ransom Family. We hope that the police are able to retain all the stolen goods because like Scott Ransom said, those firearms are in the wrong hands, who knows what they will do next. They could possibly use the firearms as a threat to steal more valuables from stores, homes and do a lot more damage and harm.
As a security company and selling only high quality products, we always make sure you have the best possible protection against theft. The Ransom Family did have the right idea and safety equipment to secure their firearms. Even though the suspects were able to remove the 1,000-pound safe onto their car, the weight of the safe was too much for the car to carry and they were not able to retain it. That’s why having a heavy-duty gun safe is essential to securing your firearms and valuables.
Most of our safes, whether it be for guns, documents, jewelry, cash or other miscellaneous valuables, feature pre-drilled anchor holes for you to secure the safe onto the ground. This will add even further protection against theft. I don’t believe the Ransom family anchored their safes down, which could have posed a very difficult situation for the burglars. Even though the safe did weigh over 500 pounds, sometimes you have to take it to the next step. Fortunately the safe was too heavy for them to get away with, and it posed a great nuisance to the thieves. We make sure you have the best possible security for your home or business. Don’t become a victim of theft and start securing your valuables now before it’s too late. Keep in mind, “Security is our Business, Safety is our Concern.”
