Most people understand that security is something that can’t be compromised but it becomes difficult for large businesses whose doors are open publicly during the day with lots of foot traffic going in and out of their buildings.  This can be a huge security hazard as important company assets and documents can potentially be exposed publicly to anyone. This is why it’s very important for most companies to be able to allow access to specific individuals to designated secure areas only.  Deploying an access control system can dramatically increased security and isolate points of un-authorization not only from the public entering the buildings but internally among employees as well.

There are several forms of access controls. Among these variations are card based controls, electric locks, digital locks, and keypad controls.  If you’ve stayed at a hotel recently than chances are you’ve used an access control card before.  The card allows you to enter your room at will but yet the system is flexible enough to disable if your card if you lose you it.  From a business stand point, the card allows you to grant individual’s access to certain areas but can also keeps a running log of who access a particular area and at what time.  This audit log helps identify accountability and simultaneously increases security.
