Home Safes Becoming A Necessary Household Item

November 15th, 2011

With the state of the economy still at a halt and the protests around the Nation regarding “Occupy Wall Street,” many people are relying to keep their earnings and funds in the convenience of their own home. With banks going out of business and other banks pushing additional fees to stay alive, it’s no wonder why people trust themselves to keep their assets safe. That’s why more people are purchasing home safes as a means of protection, storage and accessibility. Home safes are a necessity for every household that provides security, privacy and convenience.

There is a full spectrum of different safes that serve diverse roles. It’s important to choose the right safe for your home. Some safes offer a variety of security features, while others provide the basic functions; it all depends on what you are looking for and what type of valuables you intend on storing.

The most suitable home safes in the market today are burglary and fire safes. These types of safes offer anti-theft protection in addition to fire resistant material to hold off against extremely high temperatures of heat. You also have to keep in mind that each safe contains a different level of fire protection. All burglary and fire safes have a specific level of temperature it’s able to withstand and only a limited amount of time. The period of time that each safe can endure at the highest temperature capable is either 15 minutes or 30 minutes. Before purchasing a safe, first have an idea about what you need. Do you want fire protection? Do you want the best possible protection against burglary? What type of safe lock should I get? What’s my budget? These are only a few of the common questions that always come to mind.  If you plan on storing expensive watches, jewelry, large amounts of cash, passports, collectibles and other rare items, then you must invest in a safe that can provide more than adequate protection. It doesn’t make any sense investing in a plastic safe just because it’s cheap and affordable. Plastic safes can be broken into in a matter of seconds. It doesn’t take an expert or professional burglar to get into a plastic safe. Storing thousands of dollars worth of jewelry and priceless items inside a safe that is worth less than $50 dollars is just foolish. That’s why saving up for a safe that offers strength, durability and resilience can pay dividends in providing you the protection and peace of mind you deserve.

Other types of home safes are wall and floor safes. Wall and floor safes have been one of the best selling and most popular types of safes in the industry for years. You may have seen movies and television shows where wall safes are kept behind a picture frame, painting or bookshelf, keeping it hidden from thieves and intruders. The same can be said with floor safes, staying hidden underneath a rug, bed or office table. They are such a popular commodity because these hidden safes offer not only protection against theft, but are concealed and disguised. Most wall safes and floor safes offer just the right amount of storage space if you plan on storing small valuables such as jewelry, cash or passports. Another nifty feature about wall and floor safes is aside from being out in the open, they also serve as great protection against fires. Since these safes are encased around the concrete wall or floor, the surrounded area in which they are built into provides an extra barrier of protection.

Invest in a safe that exceeds your needs and expectations. Higher-end safes can be out of your price-range, but worth it in the long run. Your valuables are usually worth a whole lot more than the safe itself, so investing in a safe that can keep your valuables from being stolen or lost is an investment well worth it. Like the saying goes, “you get what you paid for.”
