One of the most popular types of locks we sell are file cabinet locks. File cabinet locks are a very important type of lock that is meant for replacing your existing or old file cabinet lock. If you notice that your file cabinet lock is no longer in working order, then its time for you to replace it. After several years of usage, sometimes the lock can become defective or damaged. File cabinet locks are inexpensive to replace ranging from $10 to $50 depending on the type of lock you are looking for. It’s very important you make sure to replace your cabinet locks as soon as they are defective or no longer operate efficiently. You want to keep your classified documents, paperwork and files protected from theft. Sensitive information such as private patient files, family records or other confidential data needs to be secured and kept locked up. Any information that is left without any type of security can hurt your business and even your personal life.

Not all file cabinet locks are compatible with all filing cabinets. Make sure you choose the correct lock you want to replace. Usually file locks are keyed locks and come with a lock kit containing the core locking mechanism, keys, attached linkage and adapters. They are available in both keyed alike or keyed different depending on what you need.  We have the top locking manufacturers in the file cabinet locks department such as Anderson Hickey, HON, Hudson Lock, Major Manufacturing and more. You’ll notice that each lock also has its own model number to easily determine which specific type of lock you will need. Most of the locks are offered in only chrome finish and come with a manual for quick and simple installation.

You will also notice in our file cabinet lock section we offer high security file cabinet lock bars. If you want to take protecting and securing your files to another level, we recommend choosing a file cabinet lock bar. These are high-end file cabinet locks can secure up to five drawer file cabinets. These lock bars are as easy and simple to install as file cabinet locks. They can also be installed on steel, wood, blueprint or tool cabinets. All the necessary screws and parts are included for easy on-the-job installation. A great addition to these file cabinet lock bars is that you can also attach a padlock to the lock bar for added security and protection. The file cabinet lock bars ensures that each individual drawer is secured by the bar providing an additional security feature to your safe. Home Security Products Selling Like Hot Cakes in Mumbai, India

In the city of Mumbai, India’s most populated and richest city, the people are investing their money in gold jewelry.  With gold jewelry declining in the United States, they have risen internationally, mainly in China and India. The cupboards in the homes of the Mumbai citizens serve as their security safes, which has been the way of life for many years. However, with the recent rise of burglaries and thefts that have been occurring in the city, it’s pushing the people to purchase and upgrade their home security.  Beginning of this year, companies that sell security and safety products have seen about 40% increase in sales.

What have also been driving people to invest in home security products are the expensive costs to secure and store valuables in a vault or renting a locker at the bank.  The rental fee to secure valuables at the bank is about the same average costs of monthly rent for housing.  By investing in home security products it is also a more convenient option rather than driving to the bank during operating hours.  With securing your valuables at home, you have access 24/7 without having to fall in line, schedule an appointment, security checkups and so forth.  The types of home security products that families have been purchasing are intercoms for doors, burglary alarm systems, seven-lever latches, high security steel safes and CCTV cameras, which have been the most popular items thus far, says security agencies.

Kiran Bhatia of HEM Kiran Electronics says that intercoms or video-door phones have been in great demand and selling very well. “The rise in demand of gadgets over the last few months shows that security is the prime concern among the citizens of Mumbai. Now people even want gadgets to monitor domestic help in their homes,” he said.  Another popular product that has been selling well is the GSM based-phone that activates as a warning signal when a house is broken into and the alarm goes off.  The signal then transmits over to the homeowner’s cell phone as well as the building’s security guard’s cell phone.

The most vulnerable time a home is broken into is when the homeowner and their family leave for vacation.  In the last week, reports have mentioned that there have been at least five similar cases of break-ins in the western suburbs where people find their valuables missing after coming back from their holiday vacation.  An expert who specializes in security has said that home security gadgets are now being utilized to integrate with the building’s security system that will signal security guard’s if a home has been broken into. Different Types of Access Control Devices

April 20th, 2011 No Comments   Posted in Access Control Systems, Locks

There are many different types of access control devices and systems used for a variety of different purposes.  Whether you are looking to use one for residential or commercial use, there are certain types of access control devices available to you.  An access control system gives users access and authority to control certain areas or resources in a specific facility or computer system.

Types of access control vary in certain situations.  It is an everyday common thing we normally are oblivious to, but we see and use it everywhere we go.   Some examples of access control are locks on your automobile door such as your key fob to automatically lock and unlock your vehicle.   Another form of access control is your pin on an ATM machine or even bouncers and security guards in front of a nightclub or courthouse. Access control is a significant resource when people are looking to safely secure confidential or sensitive information or equipment.

There are plenty of access control devices to choose from.  The types of door hardware include exit devices and push bars that are used when exiting a high traffic building such as a theater.  You usually see exit devices as an emergency exit that allows exiting easily and immediately.  Other door hardware devices include keypads and alarm locks that secure a certain area to prevent theft and break-ins.  If an unauthorized user gains access, then an alarm will go off to warn those inside the building.  A keypad is used to restrict access to unauthorized users that requires an access code or password to gain entry.

Another type of door hardware that is used for access control are vault doors.  The purpose of a vault door is to safely secure not only weapons or guns, but even personal heirlooms, business and family records, jewelry, photographs, collectibles, art and rare antiques. A vault door is usually constructed out of thick steel barrier to protect against extremely hot temperatures plus thick bolts to assure your valuables are protected.  Vault doors can also be used as a storm shelter, especially if you live in an area where hurricanes, tornadoes and bad weather is persistent.

Other types of access control are push buttons.  You mainly see push buttons used in case of an emergency or for the handicapped.  Push buttons are hard to miss since they are larger than normal buttons and have a bright red color.  The same goes for handicapped buttons but are indicated with the ordinary handicap blue color.  These push buttons are generally seen at hospitals or buildings with high person traffic that provide easy entry and exiting out of the building without having to physically push or pull the door.

Police Arrest Man Who Stole $25,000 In Cash From Home Safes

April 18th, 2011 No Comments   Posted in Locks, Misc, Safes

Police caught a man who was residing in a home where he stole cash from the homeowner’s safes.  That suspect was 40-year-old Fernando Zuniga who was charged with stealing roughly between $25,000 to $30,000 in cash.  According to East Cocalico Township police, Zuniga has been living at the home since July where the money was kept in two locked safes, and the safe keys were also left in the home.

Then on January 11th, the homeowner discovered that $25,000 was stolen from the home safes and even an additional $1,000 stolen from a desk drawer. According to police interviews, Zuniga was unemployed and had been gambling frequently at the Hollywood Casino in Grantville, Delaware Park Racetrack and Casino.  He had told the police that he accumulated about $15,000 in slot machine and table games.  On the other hand, further investigation shows that he spent almost $2,000 every day and his winnings never reached over $383 every gambling session and only had three winning days.

The records that were obtained by the police has shown that Zuniga visited the Hollywood Casino about 21 times between the months of August and December.  During that time, he totaled about $7,496 in losses, the police said. They also added that Zuniga did use the money not only for gambling purposes, but also to buy a television, furniture and appliances. Zuniga is now convicted with a theft charge before District Judge, Nancy Hamill, and was sent to Lancaster County Prison under a $30,000 bail.
